After several rumors, Samsung has officially announced the Samsung Galaxy Note Fan Edition (Galaxy Note FE) in South Korea. This has almost same specifications as the Galaxy Note7 that was discontinued due to battery issue and even uses several components from the Note7. But the Fan Edition has a new, smaller 3200mAh battery with 8-Point Battery Safety test and multi-layer safety measures protocol implemented, same as the Galaxy S8 series.
Apart from that, the Fan Edition also comes with the same UX (based on Android Nougat) that is on the Galaxy S8 and S8+, complete with Bixby. The new phone is being made out of all the unused Note7 parts, which Samsung spins as an eco-friendly initiative.
The Galaxy Note Fan Edition (Galaxy Note FE) is priced at 699,600 Won ($611) and will be available in South Korea from July 7th in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx colors. The phone also comes with a clear view cover, same as the color of the phone.
Samsung plans to sell 400,000 units of the phone in the domestic market and overseas sales will be decided later. This is likely not going to be a conventional release, especially with the Galaxy Note8 being around the corner.
