Speaking on mobile phone or replying to text messages while driving are one of the main reasons of road accidents. To prevent them, Samsung Electronics Benelux B.V. has introduced a new app, called In-Traffic Reply that aims to help drivers reply to messages without taking their focus off the road.
A recent PanelWizard study observed that approximately one-third of Dutch drivers use smartphones while driving a car or riding a bike. Many of the respondents claim that the social pressure to respond to calls and messages quickly is the reason for doing so. After researching all this, Samsung thought of creating this app to help the busy drivers.
The In-Traffic Reply app uses smartphone’s in-built sensors like GPS and will automatically activate when it identifies that the user is riding a bike or driving a car. Users can choose to send the default reply (“I’m driving, so I cannot answer at the moment.”), a fun, animated response, or your own customized pre-set message.
This app is currently in beta on Android in Netherlands and has already gained the attraction of hundreds of users. The full version of the app is said to launch in mid-May and will be made available in the Google Play Store.
This is not the first time Samsung is releasing apps for drivers. It released S bike mode for bikers last year that activate pre-recorded message for all callers, motion lock feature to ensure rider comes to a halt before answering, urgent calls filter and more.
