Xiaomi just launched the Redmi 4A budget-friendly smartphone at an event in India. At the launch event the company also confirmed that it will launch the successor of last year’s Redmi 3S smartphone in India soon, so we can expect the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime in the country soon.

Both the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime were introduced back in November, last year in China. The standard variant has a 5-inch HD (720p) 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by a Snapdragon 430 (64-bit) Octa-Core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and has 16GB of expandable internal storage. While the high-end Prime version has a 5-inch Full HD (1080p) 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by a Snapdragon 625 (64-bit) Octa-Core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and has 32GB of expandable internal storage.

Both the variants run on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with MIUI 8 on top, have a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF (phase detection auto-focus), 5-megapixel front camera, unibody metal design, fingerprint sensor on the back, come with hybrid dual SIM slot that lets you use the secondary SIM slot as a microSD card slot when required and pack a 4100mAh battery.
