MediaTek today announced the launch of Helio P25, its newest SoC in the Helio P-series. It is based on 16nm FinFET process node and has MediaTek Imagiq – a superior Image Signal Processor (ISP) technology same as P20, but this has up to 13MP dual camera support to offer premium quality imaging. It is optimized for Color + Mono de-noise as well as real-time shallow DoF bokeh and Video HDR with full preview. It also has high performance auto exposure – Turbo 3A to accelerate AE convergence speed by 30-55%.

"Mediatek Helio processors"

The company said: MediaTek Helio P25 puts advanced camera effects at user fingertips, including shallow depth-of-field – typically associated more expensive lenses – and high performance auto exposure that lets users capture the highest quality images in any lighting scenario.

It has Octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor clocked at up to 2.5GHz, slightly faster than 2.3GHz on P20. Other specifications such as ARM Mali-T880 MP2 GPU clocked at up to 900MHz, up to 6GB LPDDR4x memory, Cat.6 LTE, WiFi 802.11ac are same as P20.

Jeffrey Ju, Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer at MediaTek, said:

“MediaTek Helio P25 paves the way for high-resolution and feature-rich smartphone cameras that enable amazing static shots and 4K2K videos. Supporting two cameras up to 13MP each, the MediaTek Helio P25 redefines expectations for mobile photography and our multimedia features like, MediaTek MiraVision technology, continuously enhance visual user-experiences.”
