Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has finally started rolling out EMUI 5.0 OTA (Over the Air) update based on Android 7.0 (Nougat) for the Honor 8 (FRD-L04) smartphone in the U.S. It brings a range of UI changes including changes to the Home-screen layout, Notification Shade, App Drawer, Recent Apps and more.

It also comes with features like App Locker, App Twin (Dual – Apps) for WhatsApp and Facebook and others. Honor claims that the new UI is extremely intelligent and secure.

On the other hand, Android Nougat brings its own list of new features such as split-screen multitasking, improved Google Keyboard, improved notification panel, Doze on the go, recent apps menu, customisable Quick Settings toggle etc.

As we know the firmware updates are rolled out in stages, so it may take a few days before they reach all the devices out there. Notification for the update should automatically pop up on your device when it is available for you or, you can check it manually by heading to Settings -> About Device -> Software Update.

However, the update is currently available for the U.S. variant but we guess it will be released in other markets (including India) very shortly.
