Last week Honor started rolling out EMUI 5.0 OTA (Over the Air) update based on Android 7.0 (Nougat) for the Honor 8 smartphone in the U.S. and now the update is coming to users in India. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has announced that beta phase of the firmware is over and a public roll out is set to begin.

The company said in a blog post: “Honor 8 with Nougat and Emui 5.0 is open to users in India now. FRD- L02C675B310 became open to public a week ago. The same version will be available to all users in batches by end of February.”

The update brings a range of UI changes including changes to the Home-screen layout, Notification Shade, App Drawer, Recent Apps and more. It also comes with features like App Locker, App Twin (Dual – Apps) for WhatsApp and Facebook and others. Honor claims that the new UI is extremely intelligent and secure.

On the other hand, Android Nougat brings its own list of new features such as split-screen multitasking, improved Google Keyboard, improved notification panel, Doze on the go, recent apps menu, customizable Quick Settings toggle etc.

Notification for the update should automatically pop up on your device when it is available for you or, you can check it manually by heading to Settings -> About Device -> Software Update.
