We finally have a clear look of the Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone, thanks to the popular tipster Evan Blass (a.k.a @evleaks). Blass has tweeted a live image of the S8 that offers a clear look of the smartphone from front and back.
Along with the live photo, Blass has also shared detailed specifications of the Galaxy S8. First up, the smartphone will come in two models, with 5.8-inch and a larger 6.2-inch QHD Super AMOLED curved displays that cover 83 percent of their front panels with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Blass added that Galaxy S8 will come with pressure sensitive display similar to Apple’s 3D Touch. Previous reports had mentioned that the Galaxy S8 will ditch the home button and we can see in the image that the trademark physical button has been removed from the front and it has been moved to the back next to the rear camera. This button will come equipped with a fingerprint sensor.
In terms of camera, both variants of the S8 will sport a 12-megapixel f/1.7 rear camera with a new visual search function, “with icons appearing on screen that allow the user to indicate the type of search to be performed (OCR-enabled web search on photographed text, for instance, or a shopping-site search for products of interest)”. The front camera will be an 8-megapixel f/1.7 unit with an iris-scanner next to it, similar to the Galaxy Note 7.
Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to come with a new feature, called Samsung DeX to connect the handset to a monitor for a desktop view of Android that can be controlled via keyboard and mouse, like Microsoft Continuum. Another new feature is Samsung’s version of the Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri, known as Bixby. It’s said to be able to handle more complex commands than its competitors, such as multi-part instructions, and is launched by a dedicated button on the side of the devices.
On the bottom side, the S8 will have a 3.5mm headphone jack, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, loudspeaker grills and antenna bands.
