Along with the Galaxy Note 7 flagship smartphone Samsung has also announced an updated version of the Gear VR headset. The new headset features a new touchpad, home key, back key, USB Type-C connector and a slightly wider field of view.
Samsung has widened the Field of View (viewing angle) from 96 degrees to 101 degrees for immersive video and gaming experience. The company is including a micro USB connector with the VR headset which will enable users to swap the USB Type-C connector.
Samsung has not made any major changes in terms of design for the new Gear VR headset and it will be compatible with the Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones. It measures 207.8(W) x 122.5(L) x 98.6(H) mm and weighs 312g without the front cover.
The revamped Gear VR will still cost $99, and it goes on sale from August 19th, with preorders opening up today (August 3).
