Google has started rolling out a new security update for Nexus devices through over-the-air (OTA) and also posted factory images, as part of monthly Android Security release.

The latest update for this month (July) fixes several critical issues, including issues in Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Mediaserver, Bluetooth, OpenSSL & BoringSSL, Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability in libpng, Mediaserver, sockets, LockSettingsService and more. In addition to security fixes for July 1st, it also includes another update dated July 5th that cover hardware vulnerabilities on Nexus devices. New builds for the Nexus devices with July Android Security update:

  • Nexus 5X (MTC19Z)
  • Nexus 6 (MMB30K and MOB30O)
  • Nexus 6P (MTC19X)
  • Nexus 7 2013 WiFi (MOB30P)
  • Nexus 7 2013 LTE (MOB30P)
  • Nexus 9 WiFi (MOB30P)
  • Nexus 9 LTE (MOB30P)
  • Nexus Player (MOB30P)

The OTA update notification should automatically pop up on your device. If it’s not, heading to device Settings > About phone > Software update, to check it manually. You can also download the factory images or even OTA zips for these Nexus devices from the Google Developers website.
