Today Samsung has officially announced the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge smartphones globally. The company has also confirmed that other Galaxy devices (which are compatible with Marshmallow) will follow soon and it will make separate announcements on details of OS updates schedule for each market.
Users of both devices should be getting the firmware update notification very soon, if not already. But, keep in mind that the release depends on the market situation and carrier requirements, so users of international unlocked units will get the update first.
The Android 6.0 update for the Galaxy S6 brings new Android version, enhanced TouchWiz interface, Google Now on Tap, more advanced app permissions, Doze battery sever mode, latest security fixes, Samsung Internet 4.0 OEM web browser, Cross App functionality and many more. The Galaxy S6 edge will also benefit from it with the “enhanced edge screen and new edge screen features, which are the unique user interface of the beautifully curved edge screen to the next level, making it faster and more convenient than ever.”
